What People Are Saying…

  • “Amy’s impressive skill, professionalism, and interpersonal skills made the selection process an enjoyable experience. Amy’s services came highly recommended to me by the owner of Blue Ridge Custom Homes, LLC. From day one, Amy demonstrated natural apt in her ability to produce an elegant design plan which thematically connected the inside and outside of my home under an elegant, colonial arrangement. After discovering my love for 18th century Virginia history, she worked diligently and generated a design plan which included many staples of traditional colonial style, from Monticello faucets to tumbled brick. This design plan married my taste with my budget in a cohesive, attractive manner. Alongside her ability to produce tasteful, coherent design plans, Amy exuded exceptional professionalism as a consultant. She was relaxed and focused 100% of the time during selection meetings. She wasted no time in setting up each of my selection appointments and enthusiastically accompanied me to each meeting in order to provide her expertise. Midlothian, Powhatan, Richmond City—wherever the appointment, she always came early and well-prepared. Amy also eagerly made herself available to answer any questions via telephone, email, and face-to-face meetings. She responded to all my emails and phone calls within a day. Despite the fact that I was one of many, Amy’s high level of dependability made me feel like I was her only client. Lastly, as a guest services manager by profession, I am well-versed with the “ins-and-outs” of customer service. Overseeing my employees interact with customers is a daily part of my job. As my time with Amy progressed, I only became more impressed with her as she demonstrated the personable, client-focused type of customer service which I hope to develop in all my employees. She possesses a reassuring, down-to-earth personality as evidenced in the way she validated my design opinions as important and meaningful. As a client unfamiliar with the intricacies of the design field, her affirmation made me feel respected and valued. The authenticity and amiability that Amy exuded are qualities that cannot be taught but are simply a part of who she is. It is without reservation that I recommend Ms. Amy Turnage Medlin as a strong addition to an interior design organization, particularly one which values strong craftsmanship and client-focused customer service. Amy is sincere and warm, tasteful and intelligent, and she impresses employers and co-workers alike as a pleasant, conscientious interior designer.”

  • “My wife and I have known Ms. Amy Turnage Medlin in her capacity as an interior designer, and as an adjunct professor of design at James Madison University (JMU). She deserves our highest recommendation. We contracted to design a new home on our 80-acre farm in Keswick, Virginia, in an environmentally responsible, energy-efficient, and healthy manner. Our new home will be certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System™ and will sustain our environment. Since Limestone Springs Farm is the ancestral home of the Johnson family, we will salvage and reuse elements of the existing farmhouse that have historic and sentimental value. By interpreting and helping us develop our design style, Ms. Medlin has been able to transform a tedious and emotional process into a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Her attractive appearance, quiet unassuming presence, and engaging smile complement her communication skills and knowledge of design. She has been punctual, provided excellent follow-through, and has been very supportive and understanding in the face of our perceived dilemmas. Her personal attention and clear, regular communication assure the success of your project. We have also audited one of her courses at JMU. Once again the content was clear and succinct, and the critique of students’ presentations was gentle but very much to the point. She has earned our very highest recommendation.”

  • "Amy was an amazing resource with my home renovation and addition. She worked closely with my wife and me to understand our needs and helped us capture what we want. At first, my wife was intimidated. But after sitting down with Amy, she was excited about the project—because Amy helped her brainstorm ideas and see the possibilities. And even after multiple setbacks and hiccups from the county, she adapted her designs to meet the changing requirements and maintain our vision. Throughout my project, I worked with several contractors, and each one was impressed with Amy’s designs. They jump started every conversation I had with someone new, and her details made providing estimates easy. Whether the project is large or small, or whether you know what you want or you don’t, I recommend Amy to anyone starting a construction project."

    Travis Coghill, Client

  • "Amy helped with the design of our home. We could not have made it what it is without her. She has a unique style that is steady but not pressured. Her primary goal was always our satisfaction. Her creative ideas enabled us to "think outside the box" and improve what we thought we wanted. I would give her the very highest recommendation."
