AMY’S DESIGN JOURNEY
As a business owner, Interior Designer, and Project Manager, Amy Turnage Medlin has two decades of experience as a strategic partner to architects, designers, builders and vendors up and down the East Coast. She received her BFA in Interior Design from James Madison University in 2006 and earned her MFA in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014. Amy began as an adjunct professor at JMU in 2008 and developed a passion for teaching. Over the course of her career, she developed an interest in Universal design and sustainable design, earning her LEED ap (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design accredited professional) designation and receiving CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) certification. Amy’s experience has ranged from luxury residential design to high end commercial design, with projects types from estate homes to senior living facilities, corporate offices, private clubs, mixed-use, multi-family, and historic adaptation. Amy’s passions are developing relationships, creating exciting, thoughtful spaces, working with a talented, passionate team, and kindling a spark for interior design in the next generation of designers. She is energetic, organized, and excited about life, design, and how to make the most of time with the people who come alongside her path.
With a passion for transforming spaces into functional, timeless, and aesthetically pleasing environments, Amy Turnage Medlin is an accomplished interior designer known for her personal and comprehensive approach to interior design. She has worked alongside carpenters on job sites, in crawlspaces, and demolishing kitchens. Amy has worked in vendor showrooms, as a procurement specialist, with general contractors as a project manager, with architecture firms, interior design firms, and clients up and down the east coast. Amy brings a wealth of knowledge to her projects, her clients, and her students.
